For the Syncloud community: request for suggestions for x64-based hardware for Syncloud

Hi all,
after few years of satisfying usage of Syncloud with an ARM-based device (Odroid HC4), I think that it’s time to switch to something more powerful to exploit (almost) all functionalities of the most demanding applications (Nextcloud, Photoprism and Plex in my case), here’s why I’m thinking to an x64-based hardware. I have tried to look for it on the Web with poor results for my requirements and very few reliable feedbacks, hence I’d like to hear some direct experiences and suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Here follow my requirements:

  • x64-based (Intel or AMD);
  • at least 2 x 3.5’’ HD bay;
  • internal dedicated OS disk (NVME or others), separated from data disks;
  • the device can work at 25°C, so it’s quite well ventilated;
  • apart from 3.5’’ disks that I already have, I need an out-of-the-box, complete and ready-to-go solution. It means that I don’t want to purchase separate components with risks for compatibility (example: case, motherboard, cpu, etc);
  • no proprietary technologies (i.e. non-std RAID);
  • no pre-installed OS.

Thanks a lot

Simone

One way to find is to search for “barebone pc” there are a lot of different options.
