External storage question

I’m using the x64 (legacy bios) to run my syncloud. I want to add an external storage with an ssd (msata actually). I can either attach it via a msata to sata adapter or a msata to usb adapter. Other than speed, are there any other things to consider/look out for? I’m assuming that this external drive would be recognized by Nextcloud?

Sata should be better than usb, but it should work either way. Also as I know Nextcloud does not really have external disk feature anymore (I may be wrong) but Syncloud has it which affects all the apps.
