# Paperless failing to start

My Paperless service, Version 145, has stopped working. I tried to add some pdfs this morning and was getting the “ **Consumption fails with “Ghostscript PDF/A rendering failed”** error, so I added the setting from [Troubleshooting - Paperless-ngx](https://docs.paperless-ngx.com/troubleshooting/#consumption-fails-with-ghostscript-pdfa-rendering-failed) to the settings in the UI. That didn’t make any difference, so I tried to restart the snap, but I can’t get it to start. I’ve also rebooted the syncloud box. I’ve sent you the logs from within the settings. I would guess it’s probably something to do with this

All of the other apps I have installed are running fine.

Could you try this while I make a permanent fix:

```auto
sudo pkill -f granian
sudo rm /var/snap/paperless/common/web.socket
sudo snap restart paperless

```

That’s got me back into the app, but I still get Ghostscript errors when I try to add any pdfs.

Ok pushed another fix with more automated tests for pdf and jpeg uploads, try now.
